About this site
This website is the online home of Daniel Coakley's independent sustainability consultancy. It brings together three integrated pillars of expertise — sustainability consulting, research and applied AI, and business strategy — into a single, evidence-driven resource. The platform showcases peer-reviewed publications, detailed showcase articles built around real-world projects, and a growing library of interactive applications and decision-support tools, giving visitors a transparent view of the methods and rigour behind every engagement.
The site is built for corporate real-estate and sustainability leaders, energy and facilities managers, ESG and compliance teams, research and innovation groups, and organisations navigating decarbonisation, energy performance, and regulatory obligations such as ESOS, ISO 50001, and MEES. Whether you are evaluating a retrofit strategy, commissioning a bespoke analytics dashboard, exploring an LLM-enabled workflow, or shaping a board-level sustainability business case, the platform is designed to translate complex technical evidence into clear, actionable next steps.
The consultancy and platform are built by Daniel Coakley — a chartered engineer (CEng) and certified energy manager (CEM-I) based in Edinburgh, holding a PhD in mechanical engineering (building energy simulation), an Executive MBA with distinction, and professional memberships including MCIBSE and MASHRAE. Daniel's career spans corporate sustainability leadership at Lloyds Banking Group, R&D at Mitsubishi Electric, software development at IES Ltd, and academic research at NUI Galway, underpinned by more than 2,200 academic citations across building energy simulation, HVAC diagnostics, energy management, and ESG in real estate.
